Of all the Adobe programs Photoshop is arguably the most recognizable. The famed editing software has entered our culture not only as a computer program but as part of our social jargon; as in "did you photo shop that?" or "that looks photoshopped." While Photoshop offers incredible tools to edit photographs and other electronic images, sometimes the simplest features can be overlooked.

Rafael Concepcion is a professional photographer and Adobe certified instructor. In his Blog post entitled "Create a Marketing Ad Using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Types and Shapes," Concepcion highlights a number of features and techniques that are often overlooked by novice users, yet these are techniques that can yield some of the most easily obtainable results.

By using shapes rather than photos, effective marketing tools can be created and manipulated using both stock images and free-hand drawing. By adding subtle shading and effects Concepcion further illustrates tips to make your Ad 'pop'. In his article Concepcion talks about two oft overlooked elements of text editing known as Leading and Tracking. Leading refers to the distance between lines of text while tracking is the distance between individual letters. By adjusting these levels in a subtle manner, Concepcion illustrates how you can use Photoshop to make certain fonts and types of text more readable. (Concepcion, 2010)

The Adobe Creative Suite offers a multitude of programs that can be used to explore one's own creativity. The possibilities are seemingly limitless; individuals have made very successful careers by honing their ability to manipulate electronic media using the creative suite.

Unfortunately most individuals do not have the time or drive to learn these programs in their entirety and can become discouraged or 'lost' in the programs. Adobe's logical design offers solutions to these types of sentiments. Rafael Concepcion is a professional photographer and Adobe certified instructor. In his blog post entitled "Create a Marketing Ad using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Types and Shapes," Concepcion suggests spending some time configuring Photoshop in order to make it "as big (or small) as you want it" by using only the panels and features that you know and are familiar with. As your skill level increases more features can be explored and your Photoshop experience can become more customized (Concepcion, 2010).

Today the internet offers an incredible wealth of information on tips and tricks for using the adobe creative suite for various communications of electronic media. Peachpit.com is a subsidiary of Pearson Publishing that specializes in instructional materials for technology and design. The Adobe website also offers vast resources and inspiration for using their various products.
